Training for Befrienders

This workshop equips participants with befriending skills to communicate, engage and interact with the elderly in the community. Participants will be able to (a) carry out the role of a befriender; (b) provide emotional support and use effective communication skills; (c) conduct home visits with simple activities (d) manage the situation and escalation process (e) provide basic information about community resources.

Sandra Foo Soon Jong
Sandra Foo has over 10 years of training and facilitation experience specialising in elder-caregiving and befriending programmes. She conducts public health talks, develops elder caregiving training material and trains caregivers and befrienders. She is a state registered nurse, ACTA certified and holds a bachelor degree in Social Science (NUS).Lo Chue Har
Lo Chue Har was a nurse since 1991 at SGH, TTSH, NKF and uses her experience to impart her skills and knowledge as nursing lecturer at the ITE in 2000 for 5 years before moving on to Peacehaven Nursing Home. Chue Har is a state registered nurse and has over 10 years of teaching experience. She holds a Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education (DACE) and Bachelor of Nursing in Griffith University.Reviews on Course
