Handyman: Furniture & Fabric Fixes

In this 7-hour course, participants will learn to fix common problems with their furniture and fabrics. This course teaches basic quality fixes for strengthening unstable furniture, replacing knobs and handles, installing new cabinet and drawer locks, fixing and adjusting hinges, and refurbishing furniture surfaces. In the fabric repair portion, participants will learn basic skills to mend common types of fabric materials by learning basic skills in hand sewing, installing eyelets and other accessories, and other useful tools to mend bags, tents, attire, and cushions.

John Chan has been an independent contractor dealing with IT networks, general contract work and coaching at various community centers and community spaces. He later joined Repair Kopitiam to continue spreading the repair culture. He has formulated many parts of the handyman course syllabus and even made the training aids for the course.
Edmund HoEdmund Ho has been an electronic engineer for more than 30 years. Currently, Edmund teaches at MOE schools as a freelance trainer for robotics, coding and digital fabrication. Edmund has been a long time supporter and coach with Repair Kopitiam.
