This online course begins with the keywords of “photography” and “Southeast Asia”, and tries to draw connections between the two terms. The course features a series of lectures, alongside open-ended discussions and Q&A. Through this course, you will learn to use photography as a medium to experience and understand different aspects of Southeast Asia, from the intimacy of family photographs to the social histories of Singapore and Malaya, from the effects of colonialism and nationalism to the imagining of Chineseness (and ethnicity).
