Reading, Analysing, and Understanding Financial Statements

This 2-day course is meant for shareholders who want to better understand the companies they invest in. Using SGX listed companies as examples, participants will understand how companies can develop and gain a sustainable competitive advantage in the market and how their business models can affect their performance. In addition to analysing the financial statements such as the Income Statement and the Balance Sheet, participants will also be guided through the Annual Report in which key elements of corporate governance and other important matters relating to the shareholders are disclosed. To round up, the participants will also get to understand how companies and business are being valued and how investment decisions can be taken.

Kelvin Tan
Kelvin has more than 35 years of senior management and investment experience both in the private and public sectors of Singapore. From 2016 to 2023, he was an Adjunct Associate Professor with the NUS Business School. He was also a Fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. Kelvin has conducted at least 6 runs of this same course for NUSS/NSA and has consistently obtained high ratings from participants.
