SINGAPORE: For the next six months, a "roving truck" will be making its way to various parts of Singapore on the weekends.

An extension of NTUC social enterprises’ Pioneers OK! Package, the truck is aimed at the elderly and will be loaded with benefits such as goodies, discounts and even food sampling sessions.

“We know that we will not be able to have NTUC outlets at every constituency, town and precinct, so we have come up with this idea to have a mobile truck, where we will bring the services to the residents by their respective precincts,” said NTUC’s deputy secretary-general Chan Chun Sing. “This will make it more convenient for the residents to access the NTUC social enterprise services.”

The truck will have a different theme each month and for April, it is "Know Your Health." This means seniors will be able to get discounts on select supplements and products, as well as free health screenings. The truck is going to Thye Hua Kwan Senior Activity Centre in Ang Mo Kio this weekend. It will have a "Let's Cook" theme next month.

Meanwhile, NTUC Health launched its seventh SilverACE Senior Activity Centre in Bukit Merah on Wednesday (Apr 22). It aims to reach out to 500 seniors, especially those who have limited social networks and little family support.
