Pre-Conference Engagement Discussion (Articles on Intergenerational Issues in 2050) |
“Intergenerational issues set in three different communities in 2050” – this set the context for three special pre-ICIP Conference engagement calls for our delegates to “meet” fellow participants a week prior to the conference. The conference calls also provided them an opportunity to share perspectives and exchange views with some of the distinguished conference guest speakers. Reproduced here are the provocative articles which set the context and comments inspired by the views shared by the participants during the conference calls.

What would intergenerational landscape be like in 2050? What should we do now so that our community would not become an intergenerational barren land in the near future? These questions were the subtext for this thought-provoking video which was screened as part of our Lunchtime Experiential Learning Segment. View the video here.

Experiential Learning Lunch Segment
(Sketches of Solutions for Intergenerational Challenges) |
What are the intergenerational aspirations that the youth of today have for the society? Through the enactments of different personas with disparate intergenerational issues by students from Singapore Polytechnic’s Diploma in Applied Drama and Psychology course endorsed by Council for Third Age, our conference delegates got a chance to apply their expertise and come up with innovative solutions for those issues during the Experiential Learning Lunch Segment. Their original and novel ideas were presented as sketches and compiled into a journal that was given out to each delegate at the conference and is reproduced here for further discussion and comments.

Journal of Visits to Intergenerational Sites
(site visits journal) |
In order to give a context to intergenerational solidarity in Singapore, our delegates were treated to six site visits specially arranged to various organisations and companies that promote cohesiveness among the generations through their innovative policies, practices and programmes. View this journal to get a glimpse of this rare but insightful experience.
