About Centre For Seniors
The Centre For Seniors (CFS) is a non-profit voluntary welfare organisation established in July 2006. Its vision is to have a Singapore in which seniors enjoy their rightful place in the family, community and society. This stems from the fundamental belief in the intrinsic worth of every senior, regardless of gender, education or social economic background. Older persons are as valuable as any other age groups and they possess experience, knowledge and skills which can be harnessed for the benefit of society. The mission of CFS is to promote the total well-being of seniors in the community by advocating positive attitudes ageing through fostering an inclusive, active ageing culture in Singapore.
Senior Mentors @ Work

Older workers possess valuable skills, experience, attitudes, and behaviour that could and should be harnessed and imparted for the benefit of younger, less experienced workers. This project consists of two programmes for two target groups - mature workers and young workers. The programme for seniors comprises of a two-day skills training workshop which aims to equip them with the necessary mentoring skills and knowledge, serving as effective mentors for younger workers. A shorter programme for younger workers includes awareness and sensitivity exercises to enhance their understanding for the older workers. The ultimate goal is to allow both target groups to appreciate the contribution and benefits from an intergenerational workplace.

With My Grandpa and Grandma Initiative
As custodians of family and societal values, grandparents play a pivotal role in shaping the values and identity of a nation. Since 2006, the National Library Board (NLB) has embarked on Letters from Grandma and Grandpa and To My Grandpa/Grandma to foster intergenerational bonds, strengthen ties, and enhance understanding and appreciation among generations. To promote lifelong learning for seniors, NLB also has an Advisory Panel for Seniors that has played an important role in these initiatives.
Following the first two initiatives, With My Grandpa and Grandma provides an online space where grandparents, grandchildren and their families can create and share stories, anecdotes and learning insights. Designed to accommodate the four official languages, audio and visual formats, the portal presents an opportunity to bring generations together to communicate, connect, and share, whether they are in Singapore or overseas.
These personal stories of Singaporean grandparents and their families have a social and emotional impact on future generations and can become a powerful knowledge capital of a nation. This shared legacy will encapsulate the values and heritage of Singapore's identity and “heartware”.

About The Great Cook-Off
This is the first of its kind, based on the concept of "Team Family" - a three-generation activity involving acting, working, and cooking together. In The Great Cook-Off, each team brings along either a secret family recipe or a new concoction. They cook before live audience of friends and supporters. Their performance is then aired on www.handmedown.sg. Eventually, the winner from one district then competes against the winner of another district in a grand finale.
Hand Me Down & The Great Cook-off
An inaugural project for the Hand Me Down arm of Virginia Langley is The Great Cook-Off, a food event dedicated to bonding family members.
Intergenerational bonding is a major concern of the government, as dialect-speaking elders find an increasing gap communicating with their English- and Chinese-educated grandchildren. This cooking competition – the pilot of an ongoing series of bonding events – is geared to bringing three generations of families from the heartlands together in activities loved and enjoyed by all Singaporeans, namely shopping, cooking, and eating. Through intergenerational interaction to forge new bonds, the grandchildren will learn to communicate, care, and share with the elders and the same goes for the second generation between parents and their parents.

About WINGS
WINGS is a non-profit education centre especially for women aged 40 and older. We aim to improve women’s health, wealth and happiness to help them age actively. WINGS is a registered charity, society and an Institution of a Public Character (IPC).
The Bond Project
On 8 March 2010, Women’s Initiative for Ageing Successfully (WINGS) launched an intergenerational project called “The Bond” with support from the Council for Third Age and the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
This project consists of three parts: The Bond Workbook, The Bond Workshop and The Bond Exhibition
1) The Bond Workbook is a full-colour 48-page hardcover workbook that provides a framework for grandparents and grandchildren to work together to record their thoughts, feelings, and interesting facts about their family, heritage, and legacy.
2) Complementing the workbook is a series of The Bond Workshops held during school holidays in March, June, September, November and December 2010. Grandparents and their grandchildren have the opportunity to participate in the hour-long workshops to learn more about each other through games and exercises. Each workbook comes with a free workshop for a grandparent-grandchild pair.
3)
The Bond Project will culminate in The Bond Exhibition in August 2010. Coinciding with Singapore’s 45th National Day, it will showcase the completed workbooks of 45 participants whose entries will be picked by lucky draw. The Bond Exhibition will be held at the Jurong Regional Library and will move to Woodlands and Bishan libraries in August.
