Guidelines for Submission of Abstracts

All abstracts (saved as a MS Office Word document) describing your presentation should be sent via email to the Conference Secretariat at conference@c3a.org.sg by Tuesday, 15 December 2009.

Abstracts exceeding the word limit and/or incomplete submissions will be returned to the author for amendments and resubmission by the deadline for review by the Programme Committee.

(a) Individual Paper
All submissions of abstracts for papers must include the following:

  • Name
  • Position
  • Affiliation
  • Title of paper
  • Abstract (maximum of 250 words)
  • Three keywords to facilitate our allocation of your paper in one of the conference themes
  • Contact details (mailing address, tel., fax and e-mail address)
  • Audio-visual requirements (if any)
  • Brief biography (excluded from the 250-word limit)

(b) Panel
All submissions of abstracts for panels must include the following:

  • Name of panel chair
  • Position
  • Affiliation
  • Title of panel
  • Brief description of panel (maximum of 250 words)
  • Proposed presenters, their details and paper abstracts (see submission of abstracts and individual papers below)
  • Three keywords to facilitate our allocation of your paper in one of the conference themes
  • Contact details (mailing address, tel., fax and e-mail address)
  • Audio-visual requirements (if any)
  • Brief biographies of panel chair and panel presentors (excluded from the 250-word limit)

Each panel will be 90 minutes in length, and should consist of three, and at most four, presentations to allow time for discussion. Please include a Chairperson for the panel.

(c) Poster Presentation
All submissions of abstracts for posters must include the following:

  • Name
  • Position
  • Affiliation
  • Title of poster
  • Abstract of poster (maximum of 250 words), which can include the following information:
    • Objective, purpose, goal, etc
    • Background information
    • Outline of the theoretical development
    • Data, graphs, tables, photos, etc
    • Any potential conflicts of interest regarding the poster presentation (e.g grants, honorarium)
  • Three keywords to describe the topics of your poster
  • Contact details (mailing address, tel., fax and e-mail address)
  • Audio-visual requirements (if any)
  • Brief biography (excluded from the 250-word limit)

For posters selected for presentation at the conference, please ensure that the graphs or photos (with captions) used in the poster are of a reasonable size (preferably, 20x25 cm or 8x10 inches) and that the poster is sufficiently self-explanatory – that is, be understandable even if the author is not present to explain the poster or is engaged in a discussion. A board in portrait layout will be provided for the display of each poster. Please limit your poster to A1-size (59.4 wide x 84cm high or 23.5 x 33 inches). Supplies will be made available for attaching the poster material to the display boards.

Review of Abstracts and Notification of Acceptance

The Programme Committee will review the abstracts and all authors will be notified by Wednesday, 20 January 2010 via e-mail about the acceptance or rejection of their presentation submission. If an e-mail notification is not received by then, please contact the Conference Secretariat at conference@c3a.org.sg.

Further details on the presentation date and time slot will be sent to the accepted and registered presenters by Wednesday, 31 March 2010. Presenters may also check the Conference Programme on the website for the latest updates.

The organisers shall not be held liable for the content of an abstract, paper and other forms of presentations with respect to its participants or any other person or institution.

Registration of Accepted Presenters

Please note that submitting an abstract for presentation at the 4th ICIP Conference 2010 does not constitute registration for the Conference. All presenters whose abstracts are accepted for presentation are required to register at http://www.c3a.org.sg/icip2010 and pay the registration fee by Sunday. 31 January 2010 in order to confirm their presentation. Each presenter is responsible for making arrangements and payment for his/her own accommodation and transportation.

Presentation

It is expected that all submissions will presented by the author, or by at least one of the authors in the case of joint papers. If you are not able to attend the session, the organisers reserve the right to drop your name from the paper and conference programme. The standard equipment will be MS Office PowerPoint and data show projection. Please bring along printed and electronic copies of your paper or your slides with you to the conference.

The 4th ICIP Conference 2010 aims to foster the creation of Intergenerational Solidarity for A Sustainable Society. Abstracts must be submitted according to at least one of the following topics* and/or set within the context of the themes of family, work and/or community:
