Lady of the Golden Years
Ageing with Grace & Youth
This shall be the first PAGEANT ever held for lady seniors by the youths in Singapore! Lady of the Golden Years is an initiative co-driven by the People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM) Youth Executive Committees (YECs) from the Holland-Bt Timah GRC and Bt Panjang SMC. Strongly supported by North West Community Development Council, we promise to bring you a spectacular event that shall redefine ageing and beauty to a whole new level!
Key Highlights
All applicants can look forward to attending a complimentary etiquette workshop, makeover and photo-shoot session. Interested members of the public can also join in the fun at the finale, in conjunction with Active Ageing Festival. Audiences will also be able to vote for your favourite candidate at the finale!
Judging Criteria
While emphasising Active Ageing and Intergenerational Bonding, the judging guidelines include:
- Personality
- Attitude towards life – self-motivated and enjoys learning, "dare to dream" and "never say die"
- Self-esteem – exudes confidence in herself, physically and mentally, that is inspirational to those around her
- Self-groom – takes pride in ensuring personal hygiene and overall appearance
- Youth Rapport
- Rapport with youth nominator – relationship with the youth nominator enjoys good dynamics (or “chemistry”), mutual respect and understanding
- Youth votes – number of votes amassed at the final judging from the youth members amongst the audience present
- Personality
- Community participation – pro-active involvement within the community that could be grassroots or professional in nature, but on voluntary basis
- Youth community targeted project – proposal of project, targeted at the youth community (children included), that the candidate endeavours to undertake. E.g. Organising a culinary session that aims to provide homemade goodies for children of needy families from a particular are
Eligibility
All lady seniors aged from 55 year-old and above and are residents of Holland-Bukit Timah GRC and Bukit Panjang SMC will be eligible to apply. Each applicant will require a youth nominator, aged below 35 year-old, who could be a family member or friend.
Youth nominator will also be expected to provide support for the nominated candidate through a brief nomination write-up (form attached), short promotional speech during judging and performance item (you may propose anything creative) if the candidate advances to the final round.
Key Dates
Nomination: 28 March – 3 May 2008
Preliminary Judging: 31 May 2008 (Saturday)
Finale: 21 June 2008 (TBA)
